In this modern age, despite social awareness, acne marks are still considered a taboo. This 5 x 6.5 feet drawing highlights my fascination with the socially unacceptable and incorrect by drawing attention to my subject’s facial acne. Charcoal and conte pastel were used on a heavy grain sheet to further emphasise the raw nature of the visual.
This piece is a continuation of my work on imperfections and taboos. With this piece, I comment on the rebellion against traditional etiquettes for women sitting in an erect posture in public. I accentuate this with the casual posture of my subject set in profile. This was rendered in conte on a heavy grain sheet
